Michelle Lujan Grisham Leads 55-40 in Congressional Poll

ALBUQUERQUE – Poll Results Reflect Dominant Debate Performances: Democratic Congressional Nominee Michelle Lujan Grisham has increased her lead in the general-election race for New Mexico’s First Congressional with a strong, 55-40 advantage over her Republican opponent, just as early voting begins.

The 15-point lead in the internal public-opinion poll, commissioned by the Michelle Lujan Grisham for Congress campaign, comes one month after an Albuquerque Journal poll showed Michelle with a 12-point advantage. An internal campaign poll had the race 50-42 in mid-July.

Both candidates have run TV ads since then, and Michelle has dominated her opponent in each of seven debates and forums, including the first live TV debate hosted Tuesday by KNME-TV. Michelle also raised about $515,000 during the past three months to help get her message out to voters.

“Voters are embracing Michelle Lujan Grisham because she is the only candidate with a proven record of fighting for middle class families,” campaign manager Dominic Gabello said. “As a small business owner, Michelle will fight for New Mexico jobs. Michelle has also proven that she will protect a woman’s right to make her own decisions about health care.”

The survey of 407 likely primary voters in the 1st Congressional District was conducted Oct. 8-9 by Greenberg, Quinlan, Rosner Research.
