Michelle Lujan Grisham Endorsed by Pueblo of Laguna
ALBUQUERQUE – Congressional candidate Michelle Lujan Grisham announced today that she was endorsed by the Pueblo of Laguna.
Laguna Pueblo embraced Lujan Grisham as the strongest candidate and an advocate who will represent the interests of pueblo residents in Congress.
“At a recent tribal council meeting in Laguna, Michelle Lujan Grisham presented her views, accomplishments and vision for working with tribes,” said Laguna Governor Rich Luarkie. “The Pueblo of Laguna has a good history of working with Michelle over the years, in particular to elder and healthcare issues. The Pueblo council is proud to extend our endorsement & support to Michelle in her run for Congress. We look forward to a continued strong and productive relationship with Michelle.”
Michelle Lujan Grisham has a long and proud record of achievement as a result of her relationships and her respect for the traditions and needs of New Mexico’s pueblos and tribes.
Michelle was appointed by three New Mexico governors to serve as Director and Cabinet Secretary of the Department of Aging and Long-Term Services. She also served as the Secretary of the Department of Health. During her productive tenure, Michelle ensured that tribes and pueblos were a priority for state government, directing state and federal resources toward the unique needs of Indian country, while respecting the sovereign Indian nations.
“Like all tribes and pueblos that have endorsed my campaign, Laguna’s leaders are familiar with my long-time support and dedication to their unique needs,” Michelle Lujan Grisham said. “I will continue to make tribal priorities my priorities when I go to Congress, and I will ensure that Congress respects the sovereignty of our native nations.”
